COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State is expecting a significant visitor for the Purdue game this weekend.
Four-star running back Anthony Rogers, a 2025 prospect, plans to make an official visit to Columbus on Saturday for the matchup against Purdue, according to a report from On3 on Monday. Rogers is currently committed to Alabama.
Ranked as the No. 141 overall prospect and the No. 8 running back by the 247Sports composite rankings, Rogers joins Bo Jackson and Isaiah West, who are already committed to Ohio State’s class.
Despite this, program insiders are aware that the goal is to secure three running backs in the class since TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins are likely heading to the NFL next season. While Judkins could opt to return, it seems improbable given his strong performance so far. Henderson is expected to be selected in the draft, likely on day two.
At 5-foot-8, Rogers would provide running backs coach Carlos Locklyn with a different style in the backfield. With James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon already on the roster, bringing in three freshmen would help replenish a position that is projected to lose depth at the end of the year.
Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles named semifinalist for award
Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles has been named one of 15 semifinalists for the Butkus Award, as announced by the Butkus Foundation on Monday.
Finalists for the award will be revealed on November 25, with the winner announced by December 10. Notably, the last Ohio State player to win the award was current linebackers coach James Laurinaitis, who took home the honor in 2007.
This season, Styles has recorded 52 tackles and one sack, marking his first year at linebacker after transitioning from safety last year. He contributed nine total tackles in the game against Penn State.
Styles has been a key player in the defense this season, playing alongside veteran linebacker Cody Simon.
