BREAKING: Vikings Trade Pro Bowler with Miami Dolphins for $75 Million

The Minnesota Vikings traded a conditional fifth-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars to acquire left tackle Cam Robinson. Despite this move, they are still viewed as a potential landing spot for Miami Dolphins’ five-time Pro Bowler Terron Armstead.

With the Dolphins struggling at 2-6, Omar Kelly of the *Miami Herald* listed several trade candidates, including Armstead. According to Kelly, Armstead is “having his best season” with Miami.

Kelly wrote on November 4 that “the prevailing thought was that this could be the 33-year-old’s last season in Miami due to his age and injury history.” The Dolphins even drafted Patrick Paul this summer to potentially succeed him. Trading Armstead now could allow Miami to advance Paul’s development and avoid tough offseason decisions, while sending him to a contender like Minnesota that needs offensive tackle support.

The New Orleans Saints drafted Terron Armstead in the third round (75th overall) of the 2013 draft, and he spent his first nine seasons with them. In 2022, he joined the Miami Dolphins on a five-year, $75 million deal via free agency.

This March, Armstead renegotiated his contract and is now in the first season of a three-year, $38.6 million agreement.

A five-time Pro Bowler, Armstead has been a crucial left tackle, protecting the blindside of both former Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa. However, he’s struggled with durability, having never played a full season—his highest was 15 games in 2019, and he’s appeared in only 10 games in 2023. Given the Vikings’ current injury struggles, acquiring Armstead could be an ambitious move.

Vikings Trade Pitch Lands Dolphins’ Terron Armstead

KTSP’s Darren Wolfson predicted that the Vikings would make another move before the trade deadline.

“I’ll be surprised if they don’t do anything else,” Wolfson said on *SKOR North* on October 31, adding that the team views the NFC as “pretty darn wide open” and believes they can contend in January.

A proposed trade by *Heavy Sports* aims to bring Miami’s Terron Armstead to Minnesota.

**Trade Proposal:**

– **Vikings receive:** Terron Armstead
– **Dolphins receive:** 2025 fifth-round pick

Armstead’s contract includes a $1.2 million base salary, which would be prorated for the remaining nine games, along with a $1.5 million per-game roster bonus. His cap hit escalates from $10.5 million in 2024 to $22.1 million in both 2025 and 2026, with two void years in 2027 and 2028 that carry a $0 cap hit.

Financially, the Vikings are in a strong position to take on another contract. They currently have $7.9 million in cap space as of November 4, according to Over The Cap, and are projected to have $75 million available in 2025.

Cam Robinson Successful in Vikings Debut

A key factor in any potential move by the Vikings to acquire Terron Armstead is the recent performance of Cam Robinson, who had a solid debut for Minnesota in Week 9 against the Colts.

Robinson, who started every game he played this season but was benched in favor of 2021 second-rounder Walker Little before being traded, is currently enjoying his best season according to *Pro Football Focus* (PFF). However, his Week 9 showing wasn’t his strongest, as he received the second-lowest grade among Vikings offensive linemen. PFF recorded Robinson allowing 4 pressures and 4 hurries, while Blake Brandel, who graded even lower, allowed 3 sacks.

The Vikings, low on draft capital, have already addressed their need for a left tackle following Christian Darrisaw’s season-ending injury. While Armstead may represent an upgrade over Robinson, trading for him would be a luxury move that could complicate the roster setup.
