Texas Longhorns vs. Ohio State Cotton Bowl Matchup Postponed
The highly anticipated Cotton Bowl showdown between the Texas Longhorns and Ohio State Buckeyes has been postponed, organizers announced today.
The decision comes amid concerns over severe weather conditions forecasted for the Dallas area, including heavy rainfall and the potential for dangerous thunderstorms. Officials cited safety as the primary factor in their decision, noting that the well-being of players, staff, and fans must remain a top priority.
“We understand the immense excitement surrounding this game, but safety must come first,” said Cotton Bowl representative Mark Adams. “After consulting with meteorologists and local authorities, it became clear that postponement was the most responsible choice.”
No new date has been announced yet, but both schools and bowl officials are working to reschedule the game as soon as possible. Fans are advised to retain their tickets, as they will remain valid for the rescheduled matchup.
Both teams expressed disappointment but acknowledged the necessity of the decision. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian remarked, “We wanted to play this game for our fans and the tradition of the Cotton Bowl, but safety has to come first.” Similarly, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day stated, “Our team was ready and excited, but we understand and respect the decision to prioritize everyone’s well-being.”
