Former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh wasted no time finding his footing after being fired just two weeks ago. Once a defensive coordinator turned head coach, Saleh was spotted at the Green Bay Packers’ practice on Wednesday, observing their offense in action. Despite previously mentioning plans to take time off following his dismissal by Woody Johnson on October 8th, it seems he had no intention of staying away from the game for long. According to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, this was intentional.
“Having a defensive perspective on the offensive side of the ball is always beneficial,” LaFleur said. “He’s here to observe what we’re doing, learn, and offer insight into how opposing teams might view and defend us.” This strategy of seeking outside defensive expertise is not uncommon; before Super Bowl LVII, the Philadelphia Eagles brought in Vic Fangio for similar reasons, ahead of their matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. Saleh’s input could not only reignite his passion for the game but also help elevate Green Bay’s offense to elite status.
