Right-handed pitcher has agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels, according to CBS Sports.
Right-handed pitcher spent his entire MLB career with the Chicago Cubs, accumulating a 97-81 record and a 3.68 ERA over 270 starts and six relief appearances in 11 seasons. He was the last remaining player from the Cubs’ 2016 World Series-winning team, which secured the franchise’s first championship since 1908.
Right-handed pitcher earned an All-Star selection in 2016, finishing with a 16-8 record and a league-best 2.13 ERA. In the World Series, he pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings in a Game 3 loss to Cleveland and 4 2/3 innings in Chicago’s Game 7 win.
Turning 35 on December 7, Hendricks posted a 4-12 record with a 6.27 ERA in 24 starts this past season, while also recording a 3.14 ERA in five relief appearances between May 23 and June 14. He completed a five-year, $70 million contract.
In his final game with the Cubs on September 28 against Cincinnati, Hendricks threw 7 1/3 shutout innings and received a standing ovation at Wrigley Field. He later expressed appreciation for the support, despite his discomfort with the attention.
Hendricks is a graduate of Dartmouth and Capistrano Valley High School in Mission Viejo, California, roughly 25 miles from Angel Stadium.
