The Bills have announced that they are promoting wide receiver Montrell Virgil from the practice squad to their active 53-man roster. Virgil has spent the first nine games of the season on the practice squad and has been called up to the game-day roster twice.
The team will be without WR Keon Coleman (wrist) for Sunday’s game against Indianapolis, while WR Amari Cooper (wrist) remains questionable.
Virgil, originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Broncos in 2022, played college football at Appalachian State, where he recorded 98 receptions for 1,436 yards and 11 touchdowns over five seasons. Known for his speed, he was featured in The Athletic’s “College Football Freaks” list by Bruce Feldman.
In the NFL, Virgil has posted five catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. The 26-year-old hails from Lawrenceville, Georgia.
