The St. Louis Cardinals are approaching a significant decision point.
Several of their star players have been the focus of trade speculation, with closer him emerging as a prime candidate to be moved. He had an exceptional 2024 season, leading the league with 49 saves and posting a 2.04 ERA across 65 appearances.
Although He is an elite reliever, the Cardinals may not need him if they don’t expect to contend for the playoffs in 2025. Because of this, Zach Pressnell of FanSided predicts that He might be on his way out.
“Among all the potential trade candidates this winter, Cardinals closer He stands out,” Pressnell said. “Every team would value a star closer like him. Last season, we saw Tanner Scott and Carlos Estevez traded for substantial prospect packages.
“He arguably outshines those two and has an extra half-season under contract. At age 30, he’s consistently performed, with ERAs of 2.04, 2.45, and 1.25 over the past three seasons. He set career highs with 65 appearances and 49 saves in 2024… For the Cardinals, a trade might be the logical choice.”
