Abdul Carter announces NFL draft decision, thanks family, teammates, and coaches

Penn State’s standout defensive end, Abdul Carter, has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft following the Nittany Lions’ 27-24 loss to Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl.

Carter, a unanimous All-American and the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2024, made the announcement through his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who stated, “I expect Abdul will be one of the top picks of this draft and a future All Pro.”

During his tenure at Penn State, Carter was a dominant force on defense. In the 2024 season, he led the Big Ten with 24 tackles for loss and 12 sacks over 16 games. His collegiate career totals include 172 tackles, 23 sacks, and five forced fumbles.

In his final game against Notre Dame, Carter delivered an impressive performance with five tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack, despite playing with a left arm injury sustained in the Fiesta Bowl against Boise State.

Carter’s decision to enter the NFL Draft comes as no surprise, given his exceptional college career and high projections for the upcoming draft. Analysts widely regard him as a top prospect, with expectations that he will be selected early in the first round.

As he transitions to professional football, Carter expressed gratitude towards his family, teammates, and coaches for their unwavering support throughout his journey at Penn State.
